Reflections is always striving to be innovative in helping our residents with dementia. One of our signature therapies is Sensory Stimulation. Sensory Stimulation is a fairly new approach that helps to control uncomfortable feelings that a person with dementia may experience. Sensory Stimulation uses objects that will reach 1 or more of the five senses that we have (sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch). Research has proven that a person with dementia will react positively when a certain object or activity is performed. This therapy is known to improve moods, decrease negative thoughts, offer feelings of safety and trigger memories. Some components of our sensory room includes music, special lighting, aromatherapy, tactile objects and much more.
